Adobe/Macromedia Flash is and probably will always be an inefficient resource hog. However, sometimes there really is no other choice since some websites won't make an alternate version available if you're on a computer vs maybe a tablet

- While reading the morning paper on my MacBook Pro, a popup appeared telling me to update to the latest version of Flash Player. I clicked to downloaded the dmg file, and noticed it was downloading from fpsdz.aspirinqueen.win. Needless to say, this does not appear to be an Adobe site so I did not.
Simply having it installed probably isn't going to slow down your system any more than any other plug-in if it's not being used. But displaying Flash content is going use a lot of CPU resources. The worst is when you're viewing a web page with several ads (especially 'floating' ads) that each have their Flash content.

If the pop-up reloads, force quit Safari (command - option/alt - esc) and reopen with the shift key held down. If that doesn't work, disconnect from the Internet, go to Safari/History and delete the website. Quit and reopen with the shift key held down. Then reconnect to the Internet.
